Sweet Bottle Gourd Pongal/ kichdi

INGREDIENTS

milk  1/2 litre
basmati rice  1 cup
bottle gourd peeled & chopped 1/2 or roughly 2 cups
sugar to taste
cardamom pdr.  1/2 tsp
nuts
raisins
ghee to fry nuts & raisins

METHOD

Boil half a litre of milk.
Add a cup of washed basmati rice to it.
Boil half a peeled bottle gourd.
Once done, mash it well with your hands or use a fork.
Add this mixture to the milk.
Add sugar and saffron and stir the rice-bottle gourd-milk mixture.
Add cardamom powder and slivers of nuts & raisins roasted
Remove from flame once it begins to thicken.
Serve hot.
ps- you may use jaggery/ brown sugar instead of sugar also.
