Methods For Stopping Avocado Turning Brown

There are lots of suggestions in circulation and most of them fail miserably. Some of the recommendations include the following.

    Lemon And Lime Citrus Bath
    Leaving The Pit In and covering with skin.
    The Water Method which is used by Chefs
    Covering Avocado with plastic wrap

Well, according to the Huffington Post it’s all a big waste of time! They road tested all the ideas and actually found that leaving the Pit was probably the best result.

Soaking the avo’s in water for up to 4 hours prior was the worst result and the other methods made no difference.

So, after road-testing all 4 popular methods, it was a big fat fail! As you can see by the photos above, the results 24 hours later are far from encouraging.

 Stop Avocado Turning Brown Trick

We were excited to find this awesome tip from The Kitchn. They suggest placing your unused avocado in a plastic container with a piece of chopped onion.

Apparently, it will keep your Avocado fresh for days. They also said that this process works for Guacamole. Simply sprinkle uncut onion on top of your dip, and it works a treat.

Keep Paint From Drying Out

When it comes time to paint, keep a roll of plastic wrap handy. Add several layers around the handle to improve your grip and prevent blisters too. 

You can also wrap the paint roller tightly in plastic wrap which will help prevent the roller from drying out. All these tricks and you can call yourself a pro!

DIY Fruit Fly Trap

 How annoying are fruit flies!? Doesn’t matter how fresh the fruit is, they just keep buzzing around. So this is what you do if you have a fruit fly problem. Cut up some fruit and put it in a bowl. A few pieces will do.

Then put some plastic wrap and cover the lid of the bowl, then poke a small hole in the top. The flies will get trapped inside the cup, which means you won’t have them flying around you anymore.
