KOHLRABI/ KNOL KHOL WITH LENTILS

INGREDIENTS

knol khol   peeled and chopped small   2 cups
moong dal/ yellow small split dal   1 cup
coconut grated    1/4 cup
cumin  1 tsp
red chillies  3-4 or to taste
fresh coriander leaves  2-3 tbsp
curry leaves  1 sprig finely chopped
mustard seeds   1 tsp
udad dal    2 tsp
hing  1/4 tsp
oil   1 tsp
salt to taste
turmeric pdr.  1/4 tsp

METHOD

in a pressure cooker, add washed dal, konl khol, turmeric pdr. , cook for 2-3 whistles, or till both dal and knol khol are cooked well
grind together, coconut, red chillies, cumin to a fine paste
add the ground paste to the cooked dal, let it boil well for 5 minutes, on medium flame, stir in between well
add salt to taste, mix well, add coriander leaves , reserving little for garnishing
in a small pan/ kadai, heat oil, add mustard seeds, once it crackles, add the udad dal, once it turns golden, add curry leaves, hing, fry well for a minute, add to the cooked dal, stir, let it boil for a minute well
serve hot, garnishing with remaining coriander leaves
serve with rice/ roti
