INGREDIENTS
chana dal 1 cup washed & soaked for 1 hour
rice 1 cup, washed & soaked with dal for an hour
green chillies 3-4 or as per taste
cumin 1 tsp
Grind the above coarsely with little water
METHOD
To the batter add
ragi flour 3-4 tbsp
salt to taste
shallots/ sambar onion/ onion finely chopped 1/2 cup
curry leaves finely chopped 2 tsp
coriander leaves finely chopped 2 tbsp
mix well, keep aside, the batter should be thicker than dosa batter, but little thinner than idli batter !
make small adai in hot tava/ griddle using oil, till it gets light brown on both sides.
serve hot with milagai podi, or grapes thoku/pickle ( see my recipe) or any chutney of your choice.
Health Tips
This is a very healthy recipe, as ragi is a good source of iron & calcium, curry leaves has Vitamin E, good for skin & hair, coriander leaves & green chillies have Vitamin C, dal has protein, rice has carbs. Onions, especially, small ones are cooling, good for those suffering from piles, have anti-cancer properties.
cumin is a good digestive aid.
