It is hard to believe that this simple dessert is used making onion ! Yes, hard to believe it, right, hence, here comes the use of white onion, as it is not sharp like the red onion. In case, you don;t get white onion, then in hot water, blanch the sliced red onion for2-3 minutes, drain, let it dry a little by spreading it on a towel. Then follow the recipe.
INGREDIENTS
white onion sliced 1 cup
ghee 1 rbsp
salt a pinch
on slow flame cook the onion till raw smell goes and it is light pink, remove.
Milk 750 ml
boil till it reduces to half, add the cooked onion
let it get cooked well and slightly thick, add sugar 6-7 tbsp or to taste ( as condensed milk is going to be added last).
now add khoya crumbled 1/4 cup, let it cook well, add saffron 1 tsp, chopped nuts
add condensed milk 1/4 cup, if you don't like too sweet, omit the sugar.
let it cool well and serve, as it will thicken a little, serve with nuts sprinkled on top
