Black Urad dal Adai ( Karuppu ulunthu adai)

 Ingredients

whole black urad dal 1 cup

rice 1 tbsp

wash and soak 6-8 hours or overnight. 

drain the water, in a mixer jar add

peppercorns 1 tsp

jeera  1 tsp

add the soaked dal and rice

grind adding little water to a coarse thick batter

remove the batter in a pan, add salt, 

green chili finely chopped 1-2

coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tbsp

hing little

jeera  1/4 tsp

 oil to cook

heat a tawa, grease it well

take a small ball of batter, with wet hands, pat or spread on the tawa as thin as you want, make a home in the center, put some oil in the hole, cook on medium heat,

once brown, flip over, add some oil, cook on medium flame till brown on both sides.

This is high protein adai/ snack, serve hot with chutney and milagai podi, maybe some curd too. 

 

TIP- you can add some washed and finely chopped drumstick leaves or curry leaves to make it more healthy. You get iron, calcium and fiber.
