INGREDIENTS
soaked tuvar/ arhar dal 1/2 cup
rice soaked 1/2 cup
salt to taste
turmeric pdr. 1/4 tsp
oil 2 tsp
grind dal, rice with chilli to a fine paste, adding water if necessary to get the pouring consistency of a dhokla/idli. add, rest of the ingredients, mix well, divide the batter into 2 parts
fruit salt 1/2 tsp
for stuffing
oil 1 tbsp
onion chopped 1/4 cup
capsicum chopped 1/4 cup
tomatoes chopped 2
salt to taste
chilli pdr. 1/2 tsp/ to taste
turmeric pdr. 1/4 tsp
garam masala pdr. 1/2 tsp
little water
heat oil in a pan, add onion, fry till light brown, add capsicum, fry for another 2-3 minutes, add tomatoes, cook till they're soft, add seasonings, little water, cook for 2-3 minutes, add some finely chopped coriander leaves , mix well, remove
METHOD
in one half of the batter, add 1/4 tsp. of fruit salt, mix well, pour roughly 1/4 in a greased mould/ cup, steam in boiling steamer for 5-6 minutes
once they're nicely fluffed up, spread some of the stuffing mixture on each cup/ mould
in the remaining half of the mixture, add fruit salt 1/4 tsp, mix, spread over the stuffing mixture, covering it full, steam for another 6-7 minutes
remove, unmold, serve with green chutney
ps- you can use other vegetables instead of what is mentioned, like peas, corn, cauliflower, carrot also, so try different vege each time and enjoy a healthy and delicious snack.
