OATS-NUT SQUARES

INGREDIENTS

oats  well crushed   2 cups
ghee/ clarified butter   2 tbsp
nuts ( almond, cashew nuts, pista) crushed well   1/2 cup  or you can use just one
gur/ jaggery/molasses   1/2 cup ( gur should be soft or grated)
nuts chopped  few for decoration
cardamom pdr   1/2 tsp

METHOD
 in a heavy pan, melt ghee, add oats, on low flame, roast it for 3 minutes
add finely crushed nuts, roast for 2-3 minutes on low flame
add gur, mix, switch off the gas, in that heat itself, as you keep mixing, gur will get mixed well.
once well mixed, add cardamom pdr., mix well
pour in a greased plate, level it
sprinkle nuts, cardamom pdr., press it down with a spoon, so that nuts won't come off when you cut
make the cuts, when still warm, but remove from plate once cold.

ps- this is a very healthy dessert, as it has plenty of fibre, proteins, iron, potassium, less fat ! easy to make.

ps- instead of almonds, cashews, which are expensive, you may use less of that & use more of the roasted dal ( pottukadalai) the dal, which is used for making coconut chutney, as that also has a good taste, then use other nuts for decorating.
