Locho is a popular street food from Surat . And fresh green garlic takes it to the next level and how! You are going to love this flavour-packed dish.
For Locho:
1 cup Chana Dal
¼ cup Urad Dal
¼ cup Poha
3/4 cup curd
Salt to taste
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
2 tbsp Ginger & Green Chili Paste
Pinch of Hing
1 tbsp Oil
1 tsp Eno fruit salt
Water as per desired consistency
Melted Butter
¼ cup Green Garlic finely chopped
Sev for garnish
1 Onion finely chopped
For Locho Masala:
1 tsp Jeera Powder
1 tsp Pepper Powder
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Kala Namak
1 tsp Chaat Masala
1 tsp Red Chili Powder
Method:
Combine all ingredients of locho masala and keep aside
Grind chana dal, urad dal and poha into a coarse powder
Whisk in curd and salt, rest for 10 min
Meanwhile place a greased dhokla plate in a steamer and let it heat for 10mins
Now add in haldi, ginger -chili paste, hing, oil and water till you get a runny batter
Lastly add in Eno and transfer into the greased container
Steam on high flame for 7-10mins (do not overcook)
While hot, drizzle some butter on top, sprinkle locho masala, garnish
with green garlic, sev, cheese and serve hot with chutney & onion.
