Poppy seeds halwa

Poppy seeds( khus khus) is normally used to thicken and enrich gravies. But now you'll learn that this poppy seeds can be used as a delightful dessert !

Ingredients

khus khus/  poppy seeds soaked overnight 1 cup

milk 1 cup

ghee 2-3 tbsp

sugar 3-4 tbsp or to taste 

nuts and raisins as desired

chironji 1 tbsp

cardamom pdr 1/2 tsp

 

Preparations

drain the soaked poppy seeds and grind to a fine paste

heat ghee in a heavy pan, add the ground paste, keep cooking till ghee is absorbed 

 now add milk and let it get absorbed, add sugar

keep cooking till sugar is absorbed the halwa thickens

add cardamom pdr, nuts and raisins, mix well

remove, garnish with nuts and raisins and cardamom pdr

serve hot this heavenly halwa.
