suji/ rava/ semolina 3/4 cup
oats powdered 1/2 cup
roasted dal powdered ( pottukadalai) 1/4 cup
cardamom pdr. 1/2 tsp
ghee 3-4 tbsp
nuts as desired
sugar 3 cups or to taste
water 3 cups
Method
In a heavy pan/ non-stick, heat 2 tbsp ghee, add besan, keep frying, when it starts to turn colour, add suji and fry till nice aroma comes, for this you need to keep stirring on medium flame.
at this stage add powdered oats, mix, add water little at a time, stirring to prevent lumps. You can take it off gas and add water mix well, then cook till all the water is absorbed.
now add sugar , keep stirring till sugar is dissolved, now add the dal powder, mix well, add another spoon of ghee, keep stirring till it leaves the sides of the pan, add cardamom powder, mix well.
serve with nuts on top.
I made this to give to my friend, as she had given rabri in a small container. I can't return it empty. Then, since we're a group who play cards together, cracking jokes and often someone gets some snacks to munch, especially if it is a festive day/ b'day/ anniversary. So, got to share with the group and some men, who are living alone having lost their wives. So, it is like a big family here, where friends are more helpful when you need.
