BREAD HALWA OR PUDDING

INGREDIENTS

bread slices   8 ( preferably old bread or which is dry or even bread corners, not very dark ones are fine)
milk  2 1/2 cups
sugar  3/4 cup or to taste
ghee   6 tbsp
cashew nuts  2 tbsp
raisins  1 tbsp
saffron  1/4 tsp.
cardamom pdr.  1/2 tsp


METHOD

powder the slices by grinding dry in a liquidiser.
soak saffron in 1 tbsp of hot milk.
fry in 1/2 tbsp of ghee nuts & raisins till golden & keep aside.
heat remaining ghee & add the bread crumbs, fry well on medium heat till golden in colour.
add milk, cook till milk evaporates
add sugar & stir till the mixture becomes dry.
lastly add saffron, mix well
then add roasted nuts and raisins & cardamom pdr.
stir for a few minutes.
serve at room temperature.
as it cools, it will thicken more.
