 Banana Bread
If you find your bananas become overripe, pop them in the freezer and save them until you have enough to make banana bread. When they defrost, they'll be mushy and ready for baking.

Berries
Keep your berries fresher by simply dipping them in vinegar before you refrigerate them. This works for strawberries, raspberries, mulberries, blackberries and blueberries.

Stale bread
No need to waste bread that's reaching its expiration date. Use stale bread to make croutons for soup or salad.

Sprouting potatoes

Onions cause potatoes to sprout quicker, so don't store them in the same place. On the other hand, if you add an apple to the potato sack, you can slow down the sprouting process.

Mayonnaise
Don't throw away your last bit of mayonnaise, turn it into instant salad dressing instead! Add olive oil, spices and fresh herbs or even some chopped onions. Put it all in a jar and shake.

Chocolate sauce

If you only have a drop of nut butter or chocolate sauce left, no need to waste it. Add cold or heated milk to the jar, stir and you've now got a tasty drink.

Herbs
Freeze excess herbs in butter or olive oil before they go bad. Defrost and use for recipes that require oil to start.

Syrups
Coat your measuring cups with oil before pouring syrups and other sticky substances. The oil will stop the syrup from clinging to the measuring cups and you can have accurate measurements rather than wasted ingredients.

Onions
Storing your onions in pantyhose can make them last much longer - up to 8 months in fact!

Nut butters- Prevent a thick line of oil from resting at the top of your natural butter by storing the jar upside down. The oil will stay at the bottom of the jar and the last bit of  your butter won't dry out and cleave to the base of the jar.

 Bananas
Prevent your fresh bananas from becoming brown too soon by wrapping the stems in plastic wrap
