To be honest however big or small the family is, it is impossible to cook the exact amount of food. Rarely it will be less, mostly there will be some leftover of dal, veges and so on. When cooked dal is leftover, the healthiest protein rich breakfast is dal- spinach roti. In case, you don't spinach, no problem, you've onion, spring onion still better, as you can use the onion leaves too. Grated carrot, green chilies to taste, chopped coriander leaves, salt of course and wheat flour along with oil or ghee.
Put the leftover dal in a big plate of vessel in which you can need well adding whatever is available at home. Mostly, you may not need water, as dal is there, onion, carrots, all have some amount of water. Add flour as needed, salt go little easy as salt is there in dal too. Add finely chopped veges you've, along with green chilies to taste, knead to a smooth dough. roll out thin rotis, cook well on both sides before you add oil or ghee. I'ld prefer little ghee, as it is essential for our brain to function too.
Be creative, food should never be wasted, We'ld be thankful to God for giving us 3 meals per day while millions around the world, don't even get 1 square meal a day. Feed the needy, don't waste food, be at home, or party, take what you need only in your plate. Left overs can be made into roti, vegetable rice, pakoda, let your imagination run wild.
