Raw banana mashed subji ( valaikai podimas), Banana skin subji

 INGREDIENTS

raw bananas 3 big 

green chili 2-3 chopped fine according to taste

ginger 1" chopped fine

mustard seeds  1/2 tsp

urad dal 1 tsp

chana dal 1 tsp

hing little

turmeric pdr  1/2 tsp

oil 2-3 tbsp

salt to taste

 

METHOD

chop the ends of the bananas, you may cut into 2/3 pieces depending on how big it is, boil in water till cooked OR you pressure cook the whole banana for 2 whistles, remove cool, peel and mash well 

in a kadai, heat oil, add mustard seeds, once it crackles, add the dals fry till golden, adding hing, chilies, turmeric, add mashed banana and salt to taste, mix well, cover and let it cook in sim for 3-4 minutes.

remove squeeze lime juice to taste, mix well and serve with rice and sambar/ rasam !

another option, some like to add some grated coconut, that can also be added.

 

DON'T DISCARD THE SKIN, YOU CAN CHOP FINE, ALONG WITH A FINELY CHOPPED ONION, SEASON, AND FRY ADDING SALT AND CHILI PDR TO TASTE, IT TASTES GOOD. BUT THE SKIN SHOULD BE FINELY CHOPPED, ANOTHER VARIATION, YOU CAN SEASON WITH MUSTARD SEEDS, DALS, THEN ADD COOKED MOONG DAL ( NOT OVERCOOKED), THEN ADD THE FINELY CHOPPED SKIN, ADD SALT AND CHILI PDR TO  TASTE AND COOK TILL WELL FRIED.
