Ingredients
for koftas
green bananas 6 boiled
ginger 1 " finely chopped
garlic 4 cloves finely crushed
green chili 1 finely chopped
cumin / jeera 1 tsp
garam masala 1/2 tsp
coriander leaves finely chopped 2 tbsp
salt to taste
milk 1 tbsp
for the gravy
oil 3 tbsp
onion 2 medium size finely chopped
tomatoes 2 medium size
curd 2 tbsp
jeera 1 tsp
poppy seeds / khua-khua 1 tsp
cashew nuts 1 tbsp
green cardamom 3
black peppercorns 1/2 tsp
coriander pdr 1 tsp
garlic cloves 5 chopped
ginger 1/2"
Method
soak the chopped tomatoes, jeera, poppy seeds, c ashew nuts, cardamom, garlic, ginger and peppercorns in curd for 30 minutes.
heat oil and fry the chopped onion till golden, add 1/2 tsp chili pdr, continue frying adding 2 tbsp of water.
add the ground paste and simmer on low heat until dry and oil separates.
mix 2 cups of water and simmer for 15-20 minutes, add salt and garam masala powder.
To make koftas
boil green banans with their skin in boiling salted water for 10 minutes or till tender.
remove from fire and cool.
remove the skin and mash banana well,
heat oil, fry lightly onion, garlic and ginger, add the mashed bananas, salt, chopped green chili, garam masala and coriander leaves, mix well adding 3 tbsp of milk.
once cool to handle, shape into small balls using little oil or dry flour.
once all balls are ready, fry in hot oil till brown, drain and put the koftas in gravy and bring to a boil. cover and simmer for 10 minutes. ( in case the gravy is too thick when you add koftas, add little water and simmer).
serve hot with rice, roti, after garnishing with chopped coriander leaves.
