The recipes posted here are very simple, with no hard & fast rule, as I love to cook a variety but with ease. My dishes are such that it is nutritious & easy to cook. To break jaggery before the invention of microwave, my mom and I have also used hammer ! Now, I just cut open the packet of jaggery, but not take it out, microwave for 30-40 seconds. As smaller chunks will break easily with a knife. For bigger ones, keep it a little longer, with the knife, you can easily break into smaller pieces.
