Vegetable Oil – Egg Baking Substitute
In
most instances, one egg can be replaced by 1/4 cup vegetable oil when
baking. Bear in mind it is not suggested that you use more than this
amount of oil in a recipe as it will make your recipe too oily. The last
thing you want is grease in your baking.
Water, Oil and Baking Powder
Here’s
another very popular egg substitute. You simply whisk together two
tablespoons water, one teaspoon oil (use corn or vegetable oil) and two
teaspoons baking powder (baking soda). This mixture equals one egg. This
is particularly good for your cookies and baked goods. It is pretty
much undetectable and flavorless.
Applesauce – Egg Baking Substitute
Applesauce
is well used in many recipes. You can use 1/4 cup unsweetened
applesauce to one egg in most baking recipes. Some of the recipes that
we have seen suggest that you mix the applesauce with 1/2 teaspoon
baking powder.
If you are going to replace only with Applesauce, consider reducing the overall sugar in the recipe. You
can also substitute Applesauce for Oil. It’s a very healthy and popular
alternative and you can use it creatively in most baked recipes.
