Dal Modak

Ingredients

for stuffing
ghee 3 tbsp
arhar dal cooked and mashed  1 cup
sugar  1/2 cup
nuts chopped  3 tbsp
saffron crushed little
kaskas/ poppy seeds  3 tbsp

heat a pan, add ghee, once it melts, add the kaskas, roast it well, add the mashed dal, sugar, cook it sugar dissolves, add nuts and saffron, cook till dry, remove and cool

for covering
maida  1/2 cup
rice flr. 1/2 cup
salt wee bit
water to make dough
either you can roll it out like roti, cut into small rounds, stuff them, then steam
 OR- you can take little dough, flatten them in your hands, then stuff, shape into modak and steam for 10 minutes
 do nevediyam and serve as prasad
