Green Moongdal Vadai

Ingredients

Green Gram (Pachai Payiru) 1 Cup - 250ml

Ginger  1"

Green Chilies 4-5 as per taste

Salt as p taste

Curd (Plain Yogurt)  1/4 cup

Turmeric Powder  1/4 tsp

Coriander Leaves  2 tbsp

Oil For Deep Frying

 

Instructions 

  • Wash and soak the dal for 3 hours. After 3 hours, drain the water from the soaked dal.
  • Take the soaked and drained dal in the mixer jar. Add ginger and chilies and grind it to coarse paste.
  • Heat a pan and add the green gram paste. Keep flame in low. Add turmeric powder and salt and keep stirring in low flame. Cook the mixture till the moisture is absorbed and the dal becomes crumbled.
  • Take the crumbled mixture in a bowl. Add curd, coriander leaves and give a good mix. Make lemon size vadas out of the vada mixture and keep it ready to deep fry them.
  • Deep Fry 3-4 vadas in batches till they are golden brown and crisp. Take out the fried vadas and place them in paper towel to drain excess oil.
  • Serve the crunchy and yummy Green Moong Vada with Coconut Chutney or Coriander/mint Chutney.
