Ingredients
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup ghee
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup Horlicks
- 1 cup milk powder
- Few strands saffron
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
Instructions
Butter a baking pan or tray with ghee and keep aside.
In a deep saucepan, heat milk, ghee and sugar on medium heat until sugar melts.
Once the sugar has melted, add the rest of the ingredients: Horlicks powder, milk powder, saffron, cardamom powder and half the almonds.
Keep stirring continuously as you add; do not let go; this burfi sets in just 2 to 3 minutes!
As soon as the mixture is homogenous, forms a lump and leaves the sides of the pan, remove from pan and spread in prepared pan.
Spread evenly with a greased spatula or with a the bottom of a bowl which is greased.
Sprinkle the rest of the nuts and press into the burfi.
Set aside to cool and set completely. Cut into desired shapes with a sharp knife and serve.
Notes
You can double the recipe to get 24 pieces.
Instead of almonds, you can use your favorite kind of nuts or leave them off altogether.
Make sure to not to move away from the stove as this amazing burfi or fudge comes together in just 5 minutes!
