Walnut halwa

 INGREDIENTS

walnuts 2 cups crushed coarsely

ghee  3/4 cup

sugar 1 cup or less

khoya 1  cup grated/ crumbled

milk pdr 1 cup

milk 1 1/2 cups


METHOD

in a heavy pan, heat ghee, add walnuts roast for a few minutes till nice aroma comes, stirring all the time.

add khoya, mix well, once it is all well absorbed, add milk pdr, mix well, adding milk

once the milk is absorbed and reduced, add sugar, keep stirring on medium flame till it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan, colour also gets dark brown.

This is such a rich halwa, once you make it, your family will keep asking for it, as you get the taste of rabdi or what we in the South India say " thiratipal", where milk is reduced and thickened with sugar last. This " thiratipal" is a must during engagement and wedding to be taken by the bride's family only !
