Protein rich Uttapam

 The vegetarians main source of protein is dals. This recipe uses only dals to make your breakfast healthy and filling.

INGREDIENTS

urad dal 1/4 cup

moong dal  1/4 cup

ginger 1 tsp chopped

green chilies chopped to taste

onion chopped fine 1

curry leaves chopped fine 2-3 sprigs

oil for making uttapams

salt to taste


METHOD

soak the dals separately for 3-4 hours

grind the dals separately using the soaked water to a fine paste

while grinding the dals, you can add ginger and green chilies.

Let the dals ferment overnight.

In the morning, mix the batter well, add onion, curry leaves and salt, mix.

If need be add some water to get the thick consistency.

Heat a tawa, smear little oil, make small uttapams, once it bubbles, it means it is time to turn.

Add little more oil all around, cook the uttapams on medium flame, if you want it to be crisp

serve hot with coconut/ onion/ tomato chutney and milagai podi and curd to make it a complete meal.
