½ tsp Baking powder
½ cup Warm water for the dough

5 strands Saffron (Kesar) or 1 tsp rose water
2 cups Water
⅛ tsp Lemon juice
⅛ tsp Cardamom powder

Other Ingredient:

Vegetable oil/ ghee  for frying

Instructions:

 Prepare Jamuns:

Soak semolina or sooji in warm milk for 5 minutes.

In a bowl, mix milk powder and ghee. Add all-purpose flour and baking powder and mix well.

Add the soaked sooji to this mixture and mix again. Gradually add ½ cup warm water to form a dough.

Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

Make small balls out of the dough, ensuring there are no cracks to prevent breaking while frying.

 Frying Gulab Jamuns:

Heat oil in a pan on medium flame. Fry the jamuns on medium-low flame until golden brown on all sides.

Transfer the fried jamuns to a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Set aside until the sugar syrup is ready.

Prepare Sugar Syrup:

In a bowl, combine sugar, saffron strands, water, once sugar has dissolved add lemon juice. If there are any impurities in sugar, the scum will float on top, remove it completely.

Then let the syrup boil on medium flame for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add cardamom powder and mix well.

Add the fried jamuns to the hot sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least one hour before serving. You can also refrigerate them for later.

Serve Gulab Jamun chilled or warm and enjoy!
