Refined flr 525 gm unsalted butter 190gm hot water1/3cup sugar 1/3 cup
yeast 3/4 tsp refined oil 1 1/2 tbsp salt 2 pinches dates 28 de-seeded
water for dates paste 1/2 cup
Method
1)in a basin, combine yeast, sugar & tepid water. Keep aside for 5 minutes for it to froth.
2) Put flr in a bowl, make a well in the centre, add the salt, melted butter, oil & the yeast solution.
3) knead into a soft dough, cover the bowl with a moist towel.
4) In a saucepan, place the dates & water, cook, stirring till the dates melt into a paste. Remove.
5) take a ball of dough, pat it into a flat circle & make like a cup shape.
6) Spoon the date filling, close it from all sides be bringing it together. or you can put the dough rolled out in any press that you've, put the filling, by closing it, you'll get a nice shape.
7) Preheat the oven to 200 deg C for 10 minutes. Bake at 160 deg C for 30 minutes till the short bread turns nice & golden.
It can be eaten hot with a nice cup of hot tea/ coffee.
ps- for a healthy alternative, use whole wheat flr, instead od refined flr & bake at 180 deg C for 25-30 minutes without preheating the oven.
