Moong dal puris

Ingredients

moong dal  1/2 cup  wash and soak for 1 hour in just enough water

garlic 4-5 cloves

ginger  1" cut into pieces

green chilies 3-5 as per taste

saunf/ fennel seeds  1 tsp

salt to taste

ajwain 1 tsp crushed

turmeric pdr  1/2 tsp

coriander pdr  1 tsp

garam masala pdr  1/2 tsp

suji 3-4 tbsp

kasturi methi leaves crushed 1 tbsp

hing 1/8 tsp

coriander leaves chopped 1 tbsp

oil 1 tsp

whole wheat flour as needed to make a hard dough

oil for frying

 

Method

drain if excess water in moong dal is there or 1-2 tsp use it for grinding

add the dal in the mixer jar, along with garlic, ginger, green chilies, saunf grind to a paste, not very smooth

add suji, turmeric pdr, ajwain crushed, turmeric, garam masala pdr, crushed kasturi methi, coriander leaves chopped, hing,  oil, mix well, keep covered for 10 minutes

add wheat flour little at a time, to make a dough like puri dough

heat oil in a kadai, take out small balls of the dough, roll into thin puris, smearing little oil in the rolling pin, fry in medium hot oil, till puffed up and golden, drain well.

serve hot with pudina/ mint chutney, mango pickle and curd
