True saffron
take few strands in your palm, rub with your finger and break it, but it will not colour your hand as yellow, while the fake one, when you rub, it will colour your hand as yellow.
2) Smell the saffron, which again is difficult, unless your nose is very sharp to identify the true saffron's smell.
3) In a bowl of water, when you put saffron strands, real one will float and no colour is left out.
Fake one will leave yellow colour and sink to the bottom.
So, next time you buy saffron, be wiser and remember these tricks to identify than wasting your money in buying a fake one.
