INGREDIENTS
milk 1 1/2 cups
pottukadalai/ roasted dal 1 cup
cashew nuts 10-12
cardamom 3
ghee 3 tbsp
brown sugar 1 cup or jaggery pdr can also be used. If anyone wants to use white sugar you may.
METHOD
in a heavy pan add 1 cup milk and pottukadalai, on medium flame let the dal get cooked and the milk would have reduced, keep stirring of and on, so that it doesn't get stuck down.
Now cool the mixture, then add to a mixer jar along with cardamom and cashew.
Grind to a smooth paste, adding another 1/2 cup milk. You may add 1/4 cup, keep the reminder to scrape the leftover mixture after you pour the mixture in a pan/ kadai.
Before you pour the mixture in a pan / kadai add a tbsp of ghee, once it melts add the ground paste, keep stirring till it gets thick.
Add brown sugar and keep stirring, as first, after adding sugar, the mixture will get watery, then it starts to thicken and come together as a ball, at this stage add another tablespoon of ghee, mix well and cook till the ghee is completely absorbed.
Grease a plate or tin with ghee, pour the mixture, level it, sprinkle some chopped cashew on top.
Let the mixture completely cool, then cut into desired shapes.
