SHAHI DATE RABRI ROUNDS- thickened milk with roasted bread and dates

INGREDIENTS

bread cut into rounds as needed
milk 1 litre
sugar  4-5 tbsp or to taste
dates  deseeded   15-20 crushed well
nuts powdered    3-4 tbsp
cardamom pdr.  1 tsp
oil/ ghee for frying
saffron

METHOD

in a heavy & large pan, boil milk till it reduces to half the quantity, stirring it in between well
once reduced, add sugar, boil for another 5 minutes on low flame, mix saffron with little warm milk, crush well, add to rabri, cool
you can bread into round with a katori or anything circular
those who are calorie conscious may toast bread well till crisp or can deep fry bread & drain it keep on a plate
mix the dates & nuts well, so that you'ld be able to knead them, then make small rounds, slightly smaller than the bread pieces
to serve, in a serving plate, keep fried/ toasted bread pieces, pour little rabri on it
keep a piece of date-nut circle on it, you may cover with another fried bread circle, then pour more rabri
serve at once or bread will get soggy or you may make rabri, date-nut mixture, fry/ toaste bread & keep, assemble just before serving
