MASALA PONGAL / KICHDI



INGREDIENTS
Rice 1 cup
Moong dal ¾ cup
Onion 2 chopped
Curry leaves few
Tomatoes 2 chopped
Turmeric ¼ tsp
Salt to taste
Coconut grated ½ cup
Coriander leaves chopped 1 tbsp
Ghee 2 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
For masala
Cinnamon ½”
Cloves 3
Jeera ½ tsp
Dried Red chilies 3-4
Water 1 cup boil and keep aside

METHOD
Pressure cook dal and rice
Powder the masalas fine and keep
Heat oil with 1 tsp ghee, fry onion with curry leaves and garlic ( optional), till light brown
Add tomatoes, turmeric pdr., fry well
Add the masala pdr., coriander leaves, coconut mix well
Add cooked rice and dal, mix well adding the remaining ghee
Serve hot with roasted papad and vegetable raita of your choice to make a complete meal.
