Ingredients
1 cup chana dal soaked for 3 hours
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
2 green chilies chopped
1 inch ginger chopped
1 onion chopped
1 tsp fennel seeds
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Method
Grind dal into a coarse paste.
Add all spices and chopped onion. Add salt and mix well.
Make equal sized balls from the mixture. Flatten them using the palm of your hand.
Heat oil in a kadai and fry the vadas on medium to low flame for 10 to 12 minutes till they are golden brown.
Serve hot with chutney.
