French Silk Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 9-inch pie crust, baked and cooled
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • Whipped cream and chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Pie Crust:
    • Start by baking a 9-inch pie crust according to the package instructions. Once baked, allow it to cool completely before proceeding with the filling.
  2. Make the Filling:
    • In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
    • Add the melted unsweetened chocolate and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, and beat until well combined.
  3. Incorporate the Eggs:
    • Add the eggs, one at a time, to the mixture, beating well after each addition. Continue to beat the mixture on high speed for 3 minutes, until it becomes very fluffy and light.
  4. Fill the Pie Crust:
    • Pour the prepared filling into the baked and cooled pie crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula to create a smooth surface.
  5. Chill and Set:
    • Refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours, or until the filling is set. This allows the flavors to meld together and the texture to firm up.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Before serving, garnish the French Silk Pie with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings for an extra touch of elegance and flavor.
    • Slice and serve this decadent dessert to your eager guests, and watch as their eyes light up with delight.
