7 Ways to reuse curdled milk


There are times, when milk tends to curdle up and in most Indian households, this curdled milk is either thrown away or tweaked into a homemade chenna. But if you are someone new to cooking and are absolutely clueless about what to do with curdled milk, then here are some creative ways to reuse curdled milk in day-to-day cooking.

1​​) Make Paneer ​/ cottage cheese


Curdled milk can be used to make paneer or cottage cheese. Simply strain the curdled milk through muslin cloth to separate the curds from the whey. Press the curds to remove excess liquid, and then shape them into a block. Paneer can be used in various dishes like curries, stir-fries, or salads.

2)Dips​


To reuse curdled milk as a dip, drain the whey and add the curdle milk remains to a blender, add in coriander leaves, green chilies, oregano and chili flakes, make a smooth paste. Next, add in salt, pepper and one small spoon of olive oil, blend it again and enjoy. 

 

3 ) ​​Baked Delights​


Curdled milk can be used in baking recipes that usually need buttermilk. The acidity in the curdled milk helps to tenderize baked goods like pancakes, biscuits, cakes, and muffins. Just remember to adjust the amount of baking soda or baking powder in the recipe accordingly.

4) Make Ricotta Cheese​


Curdled milk can be used to make exotic cheese varieties like Similar to making paneer, you can use curdled milk to make ricotta cheese. Heat the curdled milk gently, then strain it through cheesecloth. The resulting cheese can be used in lasagna, stuffed pasta dishes, or spread on toast.


5) Cook Savory Dishes​


Curdled milk can be incorporated into savory dishes like soups, stews, and sauces. It adds richness and depth of flavor to dishes like creamy tomato soup, creamy pasta sauces, or mashed potatoes.

6) ​​Fertilize Plants​


Diluted curdled milk can be used as a natural fertilizer for plants. The nutrients in the milk, such as calcium and protein, can help nourish plants and improve soil quality. Just be sure to dilute the curdled milk with water before using it on plants to prevent odor and deposition around the plant.

7) Make DIY Skin Remedies​

 

 

Curdled milk can be used in homemade beauty treatments. It contains lactic acid, which can help exfoliate and soften the skin. You can mix curdled milk with other ingredients like honey, oatmeal, or mashed fruits to create nourishing face masks or skin treatments.
