Tortilla - Home-made

 Ingredients

 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

3 Tablespoons vegetable oil or extra light olive oil

1/2 cup hot water (Jenny uses hot tap water – 125-130° F)

The recipe prep time is 15 minutes and then the same again for cooking. You will yield 8 Tortillas from this recipe.

 METHOD

Mix flour, salt and baking pdr. well

Add any good flavourless vegetable oil- Canola

Mix the oil well for a couple of minutes

add 1/2 cup of hot water, mix well

then knead to a soft dough

heat the pan, roll into very thin circles

cook in the pan, till bubble comes and brown spots appear on both sides

keep the cooked tortillas covered in a cloth to remain soft.

This is just like what we make rotis / phulkas, except one adds little baking pdr.
