Tomato & brown lentil soup

ingredients
oil 2 tbsp      chopped onion 1/2 cup      garlic 1 tsp          tomato paste 1/2 cup      dried chilies 2
bay leaves 2         brown lentils 3/4 cup   salt & pepper pdr to taste      few fresh basil leaves

Method
soak the lentils for 1 hour. heat the oil in a cooker pan & saute onion & garlic on medium heat until soft. Add red chilies & bay leaves. Saute for a minute, add the soaked lentils & saute until hot. Add 2 cups of hot water & salt to taste. pressure cook the lentils for 3 whistles.
Cool, remove the red chilies, bay leaves from the lentils. Add the tomato paste & the pepper pdr. Mix well & add more water if necessary. Boil for 10 minutes for the flavour to mix. Serve the soup with fresh basil & top with little cream in each bowl.
