How to Make "Watermelon Bread"

Add some excitement to ordinary bread, and watch your kids devour it without a second thought. This simple DIY video will teach you how to make bread that looks like watermelon, and tastes like joy. I included a list of ingredients after the video, as well as an important correction. Bon Appetit!

Ingredients
• 3 cups all-purpose flour (375g)

 • 2 1/2 tbsp. white granulated sugar (14g)

• 1 cup milk (250ml)

• 1 egg yolk • 3/4 tsp salt (about 3g)

• 1 1/2 tbsp. unsalted butter (21g), softened

• 2 1/4 tsp instant active dry yeast (1 envelope or 8g)

 • 3/4 cup raisins (120g) Tammy (the lady in the video) says to heat the oven to 350°F.

This is a mistake. You should heat the oven up to 375°F (175°C).

Method

In the microwave heat  1 cup of milk with  1 1/2 tbsp butter fora minute.

remove add, sugar, salt, yeast, stir well    add 1 egg yolk stir well

add part of the flour, keep stirring, add more flout, keep stirring

add remaining flour, keep stirring, the dough should come together in the center of the bowl

dough is sticky, remove 1/4 of the dough in a bowl, remove another 1/4 of the dough in another bowl.

in the remaining half of the dough in the big bowl, add pink colour, mix well, add some red colour to get the colour of the watermelon, stir in 3/4 cup of raisins, mix well.

at this point  continue to add flour and keep mixing, when the flour from the side of the bowl is mixed with the dough, remove, knead on the  surface by folding and squashing it, knead, add more flour if needed, so it is no more sticky, this takes about 8 minutes of kneading, then put it in the large bowl after adding some flour, cover the dough with a plastic sheet. keep it in a warm place to rise ( maybe oven with only lights on)

In one of the 1/4 part of the dough, add green color, mix well, add more flour to mix well, then remove and on the surface knead the dough adding more flour as needed, fold and knead each time, put in the ball with some flour, cover with plastic wrap to rise.

in the last part, it is going to be white, add some flour and knead till is smooth and elastic.
cover the keep aside to rise.

Once the dough has risen, take out the pink dough, punch and knead it fold it and knead to a log shape, which will depend on the shape of you baking dish.

take out the white dough, knead well, roll it flat with a rolling pin according to the size of the pink log, brush the white with milk.

brush the pink log  too withe milk, roll the white around the pink log to cover it well, stretch the corners to cover its corners, so no pink part if seen.

roll the green piece big enough to cover the log, brush with milk, cover the log well with green part, pinching well the corners.

keep it on a buttered bread pan, cover it rise, double in  size, takes about an hour

place in a pre-heated oven at 350 deff F or 175 deg. C for 15-29 minutes, depending on your oven size the voltage

the top should be brown to remove from the oven. Once cool, cut into slices

Options- you may use dark chocolate chips in stead of raisins, as it will make the bread sweeter.
