Horseradish super concoction

1 large horseradish root (6 inches)

1 tablespoon honey (preferably raw, organic).

Grate fresh horseradish. Mix with lemon juice and honey and put into a jar. Seal the jar with an airtight lid and leave for 24 hours. Take 1 tablespoon of this powerful mixture 3 to 4 times per day. Don’t dilute with water. If it burns your throat and sinuses, this is a good indication that it’s working.

Horseradish sinus plumber

Horseradish sinus plumber

8 – 12 inch long piece of horseradish root
    2  Tbsp water
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV has many health benefits)
    Pinch salt

Use a vegetable peeler to peel the surface skin off of the tuber and chop into small pieces.
Put into the food processor, add the water, the vinegar and the salt.
Process until well ground.

At the point you have to be extremely careful as the ground up fresh horseradish is many times as potent as chopped onions and it can seriously hurt your eyes if you get too close. Always keep an arm length away and work in a well ventilated area.

Store in a glass jar and eat 1/2–1 teaspoon (3–5 grams) three times per day. This is a seriously strong concoction which I’ve used myself and found it extremely effective. If you haven’t eaten horseradish before start with very small amounts as this is extremely strong and potent concoction.

It will keep 4-5 weeks in the refrigerator.

Is It Safe to Eat Reheated Rice?

Some foods are more likely to cause food poisoning than others. We have listed the foods that are more likely to cause food poisoning previously in this article, but today, let’s focus on only one of these foods, rice. A significant percentage of uncooked rice contains Bacillus cereus, a pathogen that commonly causes food poisoning and can lead to complications in individuals with certain pre-existing conditions.
If stored at room temperature for long periods of time, the bacillus can multiply in cooked rice, increasing one’s risk of infection. Contrary to a popular misconception, however, reheating leftover rice in itself does not raise one’s risk of infection with Bacillus cereus, as long as you cook, store and reheat your rice correctly. This guide explains how to handle rice and leftover rice safely.

1. How to Cook Rice Properly
As we explained in greater detail in a previous article, you should always handle animal products and plant-based products separately while cooking, and wash your hands thoroughly before and between each stage of cooking. This is because animal products, such as meat and poultry, often contain pathogens that can spread to other foods aren’t typically exposed to temperatures as high as animal products are.
When it comes to cooking rice, high temperatures that kill germs are your best friend, so you should also keep an eye out on cooking temperatures and make sure to cook rice at a temperature above 60°C (140°F). Beware that lower cooking temperatures could do the opposite and urge bacterial growth, so we recommend making sure the temperature is high by using a kitchen thermometer.
Once cooked, serve the rice immediately and don’t let a bowl or rice sit at room temperature for more than an hour at any time.

2. Storage Tips for Cooked Rice
Since bacteria typically thrive in temperatures between 5-60°C (40-140°F), cooling the food as quickly as you can would prevent this from happening. It doesn’t matter if it’s plain rice, risotto, cabbage rolls filled with rice or any other rice dish, you should follow these tips to ensure the rice dish doesn’t harbor harmful microorganisms:

1. Freeze or refrigerate leftovers immediately after cooking. Side note: check the temperature in your refrigerator and make sure it’s below 5°C (40°F).

2. Don’t leave cooked rice at room temperature for over 1 hour.

3. Don’t store leftovers in the fridge for more than 3-4 days and in the freezer for more than 3 months.

4. Package your leftovers smartly: divide the rice into portions to avoid reheating and refreezing a dish several times.

3. How to Reheat Rice Properly
When reheating leftover rice, it’s important to make sure it has been heated up to a temperature of over 75°C (165°F) as quickly as possible and for at least 3-4 minutes irrespective of the way you’re reheating the rice (steaming, microwave or stir-frying).

This will ensure that the rice is piping hot and any bacteria potentially present in the food died off. Serve the rice immediately and try to avoid reheating for the second time. If you have a large quantity of leftover rice, we recommend dividing it into serving-size containers or bags.

5 Creative Ways to Substitute Eggs

One of the most basic ingredients you have at home are eggs, which can be used in almost all recipes. While some people avoid them for their own reasons, there are various ingredients that you can use to replace eggs, be it because you choose a vegan lifestyle or because you might be intolerant to eggs. Take a look:

replacement for eggs
1. Tofu
If working with a recipe that mainly consists of eggs, tofu is the best way to go. 1/4 cup of tofu is equivalent to one egg and it makes it a delicious way to make quiches and custards. As such, tofu is tasteless, but can be flavored to your liking and offers the same health benefits that eggs have, if not more. It is high in protein and contains nine amino acids. In addition, it is high in iron, selenium, manganese, and calcium.
Recipe Tips: If you'd like to prepare vegan deviled eggs, add a pinch of turmeric into the tofu mixture to turn it a golden color. Be sure to mix well. Furthermore, when choosing to cook with tofu instead of eggs, remember to opt for the soft kind of tofu, as the firm one will make it difficult to blend. And avoid tofu that has been pre-seasoned because it will intervene with the taste and texture of your dish.
2. Aquafaba
replacement for eggs
For an egg white replacement, aquafaba is it. It is the water in which beans and chickpeas are cooked in. It can replace eggs in meringues and marshmallows. It is rich in carbohydrates, proteins and antioxidants as the ingredients of the seeds have migrated into the cooking water. Furthermore, those proteins turn the water into a consistency that is similar to egg whites which you can mix and create a foamy texture for your creamy recipes.
Recipe Tips: You can add vanilla or sugar into the mixture if you are making something sweet. Bear in mind the following information:
3 tbsps. aquafaba substitute one egg.
2 tbsps. aquafaba substitute one egg white.

3. Flaxseeds
One of the tastiest ways to replace eggs is to use flaxseeds giving your dish a nutty flavor. They are loaded with many nutrients, making them a superfood. They are packed with protein, omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous and almost all B-vitamins.
Recipe Tips: Grind the flaxseeds in a coffee grinder and mix one tablespoon flaxseeds with 3 tablespoons water to replace one egg. Then let the mixture sit for 30 minutes prior to adding it into your cooking mixture.
4. Banana
replacement for eggs
When it comes to baking sweet recipes like pancakes, cakes, muffins and so on, bananas are the most popular replacement. If you love the taste and smell of bananas it will make your cakes irresistible. Ripe bananas, in particular, can bind all the ingredients together due to the fact that they are high in moisture and have a creamy texture. They can moderate blood sugar levels, improve digestion and promote weight loss, making them a healthier alternative to eggs.
Recipe Tips: Use 1/2 a ripe banana as a substitute for one egg.

5. Pumpkin
Pumpkin can be used similarly to potatoes in baking recipes. It can be used for cookies, cakes, bread, and muffins, and will give the baking mixture more moisture to work with and can give color to a delicious cake butter, particularly during the fall. Furthermore, using pumpkins instead of eggs can be beneficial to your overall health. They are rich in antioxidants and potassium which can help regulate blood pressure. They are high in protein and fiber and are low in calories which makes it a healthier alternative to eggs.
Recipe Tips: 1/4 cup of mashed pumpkin is equivalent to one egg. Remember not to add an excess amount of pumpkin because it naturally has a strong taste. Be sure not to overdo it, as you will lose the taste of the other ingredients.
